Terms of service

These terms govern your use of the Assertr website at assertr.app and the Assertr mobile application (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Fortnight AI Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17085717, registered office at 45 Woodland Close, Southampton SO18 5RD, United Kingdom). In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" refer to Fortnight AI Ltd. "You" means the person using the Service.

By creating an account, installing the app, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these terms on your behalf. You must have the legal capacity to enter a contract in your country of residence.

2. What the service does

Assertr lets you rehearse difficult conversations (for example, salary negotiations, workplace feedback, or interviews) with an AI-driven voice counterpart. Sessions are processed to produce feedback, scores, and progression data. Features, scenarios, and limits may change as we improve the product.

The Service is an educational and skills-practice tool. It is not coaching, therapy, legal advice, or any form of professional counselling, and the AI may produce inaccurate or unsuitable responses. You are responsible for your decisions.

3. Accounts

Some features require an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@assertr.app if you suspect unauthorised use. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, create security or abuse risk, or become inactive for an extended period.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service to break the law or infringe others' rights.
• Attempt to probe, reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Service or its AI models beyond what is permitted by law.
• Submit audio or content that is unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory, or that you do not have the right to share.
• Share your account, resell access, or create accounts by automated means.
• Record, intercept, or share conversations involving other real people without their informed consent.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Assertr offers a free tier and a paid "PRO" subscription. Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or Google Play according to their terms. Renewal, cancellation, and refund rules are governed by the store you purchased through, and you manage them in your store account. UK and EU consumers retain statutory refund rights where these apply.

6. Your content and AI outputs

You retain ownership of the audio and text you submit. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to process that content for the purpose of providing and improving the Service, including training and evaluation where you have given the necessary consent in the app.

AI outputs are generated, may be inaccurate, and are not legal, medical, or financial advice. We do not guarantee any particular result from using the Service.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including software, designs, brand, and all associated materials, is owned by Fortnight AI Ltd or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these terms.

8. Service availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time. Where we make material changes that adversely affect paying users, we will give reasonable notice.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (see our Delete account page). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms, if required by law, or to protect other users or the Service. On termination, the licences granted to you end; clauses that by their nature should survive (including liability, IP, and governing law) will do so.

10. Disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Nothing in these terms limits your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer.

11. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence). Subject to that, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to liability, or (b) £50. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, give reasonable advance notice in-app or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless mandatory consumer rules in your country of residence require otherwise.
